Our actions are
based on what we believe and value. You belong to a
particular organization because you value the information you
receive and the contacts you can make. You go to work because
you value the work you do or the money you earn from your job.
We can therefore change our actions by changing beliefs we have
in our minds. Can you loose weight? Of course you can,
people do it all the time. If you have had trouble loosing
weight, check your beliefs about weight. Do you really believe
you can? or do you finding saying intellectually "Oh I know
I can", but in your heart you really say, "I
can't loose weight". Check out what you value. Do you
value French fries, donuts and cokes more than you do loosing
weight. So take a blank piece of paper and think and write down
the beliefs and values you have about weight.
Our
beliefs about weight or anything else can be changed by the
words that we speak. The words we speak help to direct our
thinking. As we continue to think about something we start to
form an attitude about it. Either we like it or we don't.
As we continue to talk and think about something our attitudes
turn into beliefs. We then act on that belief. If we like the
result of our actions then we do them again. This can eventually
become a habit, which in turn develops our lifestyle.
And you can trace the entire actions back to the words that you
speak. Therefore be careful what you think about and what you
talk about and the way you talk about it.
